Great Time to Start a Real Estate Career

“?

Okay, so I’m a bit biased since I manage a real estate education business, but I believe today is a great time to start a real estate career.“? With all the doom and gloom news about the “bubble” bursting, huge inventories of new and existing homes, and the possibility of falling prices, why should anyone think about starting a real estate career now?“? Here are a few thoughts.

“?

Most importantly, is becoming a real estate agent or broker appealing to you and why?“? If you are looking for a career with the”?potential for above average earnings, want to work for yourself, and be rewarded based solely on your ability and performance, then a real estate career may be a very good choice.“? Is it difficult, do you have to work hard, do you need to educate yourself, absolutely on all counts.“? Are there real estate professionals ready to help you get started and succeed if you are willing to learn and work hard.“? Again, absolutely.“? If you partner with an experienced broker, it is in their best interest to do everything they can to help you become successful.“? Are you interested in helping people like yourself negotiate the largest, most important purchase of their lives?“? If the answer is yes, you may want to get your new career in real estate started today.

“?

What about the “gloom and doom” right now?“? Well, there are a lot of sellers who need the help of professional real estate agents and brokers right now.“? And there are still plenty of buyers who need help deciding which of the many homes available is right“? for them.“? People are always selling and buying homes, no matter the economic conditions.“? Many real estate agents may be leaving the business now because the recent boom appears to be over and the apparent “easy” money has been made.“? The truth is the money was never easy.“? There was a lot of hard work by real estate professionals to make the “easy” money.“? There almost always is.“? So now may be a good time for hard-working people interested in a real estate career to fill the void left by those leaving.“? Real estate is a cyclical business.“? Timing can be everything.“? Those who are in now will catch the next upturn when it starts, and it will start, probably sooner than most experts think.“?

“?

So, if you are interested in getting your real estate career started, find a good real estate school, take the required courses, pass the state exam, and find an experienced broker who is interested in helping you be as successful and she or he is.

LOVE IT!!! It is great to hear such optimism amid all the doom and gloom.
My daughter has just joined me in my business as a loan officer. I believe that the slow time that we are experiencing now just makes it easier for her to take in all of the information that is so necessary to succeed when things pick up again.
Thanks for the pick-me-up! I will be forwarding this to other loan agents!

here here….at last,. I am a broker and real estate attorney and this is a great time to get in the business if you plan to be a professional and not just an order taker. I too am a bit biased but my best advice is to find a new, technologically advanced, progressive, small brokerage that will teach you how to work this biz in good markets and bad. Anyone can take orders, building relationships requires training and pays dividends for a lifetime

The Perfect Storm – Low inventories, low interest rates, lots of buyers and a growing economy have caused the "perfect storm" over the past 4 years. This storm has lulled experienced Realtors into forgetting how hard they used to work. The perfect storm has new Realtors (4 years or less…) believing that the business is "easy"…..We all need to focus on the consumers needs, learn quality ethical business methods, and go to WORK. If it was easy, so many Realtors of all stripes would not be heading for the exits.

thanks for the encouragement and advice! a lot of people are really having doubts whether they should go in to the RE business or not. and a lot are also having doubts. so it’s refreshing to read something optimistic.

It’s a lot like stepping off a cliff – but that’s what I’ve just done. I’m looking at it this way…twice before I’ve come up to the edge of getting my license just as the market tanked. In Wisconsin in 1979 and in California in 1989. I’ve regretted backing off in both cases.
Now I have the opportunity to start out…just as the party is breaking up…and I’m not going to let that stop me. I see this as a good opportunity to get my ground game in place and be ready for the return of a solid – stable – market.

Dave, anyone can come into the industry during a boom and make good money. It is in slow markets like yours in the USA and here in Australia at the moment that brings out the cream of the crop. You need to be much better than the average to survive so learning the skills and building a solid career now will see enormous rewards when the market turns around again.
