Hooker creates Home Staging Hell

25 August 2008 by Archives 222 views 3 Comments

Witnessing the burgeoning staging industry has me marveling at the viral nature of its growth. Well over two thousand Real Estate Agents now hold the AHS Designation, which means that they are able to guide their sellers through the process of staging their homes. In today’s market we know that this is a crucial part of the sales process.

Today we see numerous courses, designations and a multitude of opinions as to how to stage a home. One particular business caught my attention. An entrepreneur in Atlanta has gone beyond home staging as we know it and offers a service whereby he places live stagers in the home being listed. They in turn bring in their own furniture and ensure that the home is staged and looks good for prospective buyers at all times.

What happened last week quickly turned into home staging hell as some poor unsuspecting seller found that her stager was running an escort service right from the home she was hoping to sell. Even though there is an element of humor in this story, I think it would be pertinent to issue a word of warning here. Before enlisting the services of a home stager, PLEASE - do your homework…….

this will serve as a lesson to all of us. Whether you’re designing to sell or designing to dwell, we should be careful in choosing the company.
