Job or Career? / Prison or Servant…
Do you have a job or a career in real estate? One is definitely a prison of your own making, the other can be a loyal (and fruitful) servant that allows you to be the best of who you are.
Unfortunately, it has been my experience in speaking to 10’s of thousands of real estate sales people that they look upon what they do as a "job" ‘even if they are full-time (part-timers are in real estate as a "hobby" by definition). Having a "job" simply means you are trading your time for (hopefully) dollars. It’s not a business because there is no plan, no written business processes, no well-defined target market, no profit and no exit strategy.
Now, before you protest too much, I define "profit" as the money that is left over after you pay yourself, your bills and your taxes. And, in a real business, profit is generated whether you are "there" or not.
A job is reactive, a business is proactive. A job binds you to an activity (whether you enjoy it or not), a business frees you up. One is your prison, the other your servant. Which do you choose ‘and what are you going to do about it?
