Guarantees
June 30, 2008 by Allen WrightToday I had an interesting call, one that when you reflect on the call you ask yourself "Why!" The call was from a prospective customer wanting to know about an online class we offer about staging. The caller wants to know if the course is guaranteed to make him money?
I explain to him that our course comes with a money back guarantee that if his production did not increase by one additional transaction that RealtyU would refund his purchase price for the course. The agent was more concerned that the course would guarantee him more transactions.
My "Why - Question" is what guarantee do you want? As independent contractors there are no guarantees; myself nor anyone else can guarantee you anything unless you work at it. We have another product called CreateAPlan which we offer a similar guarantee, however with CreateAPlan you must submit your work over the course of a year to get the guarantee ... although one would think we are trying to make it too tough to get the refund, I would combat that if the person real does all that CreateAPlan asks you to do that your business should increase.
What bothers me about the question is the desperation ... "It better get me business!" This leads me to believe that the marginal agent out there is struggling so much that they cannot understand that their past success does not guarantee future results. There are just too many agents that do not realize that their past success was do to the market not their merit.
There are few guarantees, and I am proud to say that we offer guarantees on something that is intangible (education) and that is a big leap of faith.
